Bryan Singer is doubling down on directing X-Men movies.

Since the man who started off the series thirteen years ago announced that X-Men: Apocalypse will hit in May 2016, we sort of assumed that he'd be overseeing the follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Turns out that is indeed the case, and some details of the Apocalypse story have come to light, too.

All the praise you've been hearing for 12 Years a Slave?

It's all true.  Forget the awards season speculation, that's window dressing at best.  The fact of the matter is that Steve McQueen's film is a masterpiece, a devastating portrait of humanity at its most abhorrent and resilient.  It's also exceptionally well-acted, as a new featurette makes clear with a partial run-through of performances clocking in at over seven minutes.

At the end of X-Men: First Class, Erk Lensherr embraced his inner villain, unafraid to call himself Magneto and sport a colorful costume.

Everything we've seen from next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past finds Michael Fassbender once again looking more restrained, however, wearing civilian clothes and eschewing supervillain sartorial pomp.

A pair of new scans from the upcoming prequel-sequel, though, include a look at Fassypants going whole hog as Magneto, taking to the skies with his signature helmet, cape, and purple flourishes.  Also showcased is Nicholas Hoult in blue-boy Beast mode as he gives Magneto a thorough thrashing in a fountain.
